The black gold
Dikke Bertha is a victorian, coal-fired espresso machine. Her coffee engineers take you to the time of the industrial revolution. When soot clouds obscured the sun and the men were made of steel. Coffee was the black gold, and it still flows from Dikke Bertha. Whether it is cut with steamed milk into cappuccino, or pure and honest when drunk as espresso – Bertha’s coffee is quite an experience. If you fancy something sweet, enjoy the delicious brownies baked by Aunt Bertha

Since the beginning of Elfia in Arcen, you have seen here many many great bodypaint artists and their creations. A few of them had even prosthetics on them. But have you ever asked yourselves how did they do this? How do they attach it to the body? What kind of material is it made of?
This year, for the first time in the Elfia history, we have asked former World champions to give a demo SFX on stage. During this 20-30 minutes demo, you will see one of the characters (that will be in the show), transformed with prosthetics. It is possible for you to ask the artists some questions.

Every one is born with a talent, some will find their talent soon, some late and some will never find it unfortunately.
I was lucky to find it at an early age, even before I could talk, I could draw with a lot of fantasy. I created the most beautiful world on canvas. I was young, pure and anything was possible. When I got older I left my familiar surroundings to become a part of the big world to lose my imagination little by little. After a lot of experiences I returned to my childhood. Now I get my inspiration from the ideas I had when I was young , a combination of the experiences of an adult and the mind of a child. I started to create art again and created the art mobile home which to me is a tool to communicate with the world. I hope to meet and inspire people to be creative and pure.
So enjoy my art and enter the world of fantasy….

Celtic Folk Music
Two thousand years ago the Celts were driven off of mainland Europe. All Celts? No, one band bravely resisted the influx of modern pop and rock and found their own place in the world of music. Armed with nothing but their voices and instruments, Rapalje is raiding clubs and halls far and wide, looking for victims to carry away on a musical journey through Scottish Higlands, Irish valleys, taverns and inns. Ground shaking jigs and reels, delicate ballads and a whiff of heavy metal provide you with the perfect opportunity to not care about every day life. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s dance…
Folk Rock from Otherworld
Koenix come from the time of fairy tales and campfires.
But their music is bang up to date: The four guys convince with boisterous energy and stage presence.
They hammer vibrant rhythms into the drum heads, melodies fly high up into the air, hang in zero gravity, just before they fall back to ecstasy.
To Koenix you can dance like at a techno party whereas the breaks let you experience dreamy songs or wild chants.
Their concerts are a journey to Otherworld: full of joy, full of motion, in pulsating light and spitting flames.
Uncle Bard and the Dirty Bastards
The first and main Irish Folk/Rock band from Italy!
Formed in 2007, the Dirty Bastards play folk rock, spiced with pure traditional Irish music. Uilleann pipes, tenor banjo, mandolin and Irish flute: there are few other bands in the rock scene that can compete against the Bastards in terms of deep knowledge of pure Irish traditional music and Irish culture and society. As written in a review of the latest album, “Uncle Bard & The Dirty Bastards don’t pretend to be Irish. […] They show” great gratitude and all respect for Irish music and culture. “They are really the adopted ones sons of Ireland and have brought a new breeze for the European Celtic punk / rock scene. “During the last three years, supporting the releases of” Get The Folk Out! “And then” Handmade “, the band has played more than 400 performances in all of Europe. Due to great success on the last Elfia Haarzuilens, the audience went crazy, they came back to play with Elfia Arcen. For more information, check the official website at: www.dirtybastards.it
O’llainnis is the latest Irish & Scottish folk pop crossover.
We bring you traditional Irish and Scottish music in fresh new arrangements with that authentic Celtic tone still abundantly present.
Hailing from Holland we play like the devil, sing like nightingales and we won’t sleep until we’ve rocked your party!
The trouble notes
„Music from everywhere for everyone“
Having played over 400 shows in 15 different countries The Trouble Notes have managed to build a loyal fanbase with their unique and energetic performances all around the world. Fascinated by the manifold encounters, the band serenades from one magical place to the next. In their packed van, they drive through Europe. A never-ending adventure living their theme.
Due to a huge success at Elfia Arcen 2017 and 2018, they again come to play passionately at Elfia Haarzuilens. And try to stand still!
beautiful chaotic instrumental music from 'Down Under'
“Nowadays, a purely instumental band like Kallidad, which manages to get their audience moving and dancing like this, has become almost a rarity. Their energy and fingerpicking talents are unsurpassably good and there are few bands that would be better suited as a headliner opener. “- The Music Kallidad are on tour all the time. Whether in Australia or other parts of the world, they manage to captivate their audiences with their energetic, beautifully chaotic instrumental music. Pulling from club shows to mainstream festivals, at free and outdoor festivals or remote indie events, the trio defends its international reputation as one of Australia’s most exciting music exports year-round. With their mysterious face paintings and the fusion of dynamic Spanish guitar riffs and wild box drumming, the three Amigos of Latin American music give their personal touch. This combination triggers the addictive potential of their fans and makes them repeaters and loyal concertgoers. The visitors of their unique live shows are stimulated to joyfully exuberant dance and leave their concerts often with tired legs and aching cheekbones. Although the band is constantly touring in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan and Indonesian, they have already released four albums. The 2017 album “The Odyssey” is even accompanied by a record and a book documenting her journey. The trio, which travels most of the year, still has its base in Sydney. Here the band members met during high school and became close friends before they founded the band in 2012 on Bondi Beach.
17 years Balfolk from Belgium
A festival tent filled to the brim with enthusiastically dancing people, while on stage an equally passionated folk-band, wet with sweat, fully committed. That’s what characterizes a performance by EmBRUN. There is so much energy among this wonderful band, that the audience is near to explode. The music of EmBRUN is tradition based but spiced with contemporary often progressive sounds and rhythms. Being a real live band, they recorded their 3th album with a live audience in April 2013. This live album is a fine example of an EmBRUN performance: steamy, swinging, sometimes intimate; a smooth-running five-cylinder engine with plenty of horsepower, rhythmically tight and musically surprising.
Imagine yourself in Dublin during the performance of the nicest folk band in the Netherlands

In addition, the band also plays their own work, which fits seamlessly between the traditionals. Imagine yourself in Dublin during the performance of the nicest folk band in the Netherlands.

I am the morning
"Chamber Progressive Rock"
Iamthemorning’s music is generally described as “Chamber Prog” or “Chamber Progressive Rock” both by reviewers and the band themselves, in reference to the band’s combination of Progressive Rock music and chamber music. Although Marjana Semkina and Gleb Kolyadin are the only official members of the band, iamthemorning typically include several other instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, string quartets, and various wind instruments. The duo formed at the start of the 2010. Their name was taken from the song “I Am the Morning” from Oceansize’s debut release, Effloresce. The band self-released their debut album, ~, in April 2012. The second studio album, Belighted, was released by Kscope in September 2014. Recorded and mixed in London by Marcel van Limbeek (Tori Amos), the album features drummer Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree. Their third studio album, Lighthouse, features bassist Colin Edwin, also from Porcupine Tree, and vocalist Mariusz Duda from Riverside in addition to Harrison and Limbeek. The band has produced all three albums themselves. The band supported Riverside, Árstíðir, and Gazpacho on their fall 2015 tour. The band won Album of the Year for their album Lighthouse at the 2016 Progressive Music Awards.
Irish, Celtic and Scottish music from Frysia
The quartet is known for its atmospheric Irish, Celtic and Scottish music. The band originated around musician / singer Gjalt de Jong, who is also a storyteller, playwright and skûtsj reporter Omrop Fryslân. Rich, complex vocals combined with rhythmic fingerpicked guitar
Based in York UK, Rachel Croft is an independent musician and songwriter, combining rich, complex vocals over rhythmic fingerpicked guitar. Her songs are often inspired by Celtic melodies and the thoughtful lyrics of the likes of Joni Mitchell, Sandy Denny and Matt Corby, which narrate her experiences living in this historic city. “Rarely have I heard such an effortlessly powerful vocal” – Jonti Willis, Sine fm. “Truly exceptional” – Jericho Keys, BBC Introducing York & North Yorkshire. “An accomplished guitarist as well as a superb singer, Croft’s performance is controlled and precise…theres also an impressive polish to her original songs”

The musical act Shaman Jungle appeared in 2012. During 4 years of existence the act managed not only to perform on various large platforms and festivals of Belarus and neighboring countries, but also to become the organizer of an ethno -festival POVIDLO, which successfully took place three times in Raubichi (Minsk region, Belarus).
In essence the music of Shaman Jungle is — freedom of spirit, imagination and rhythm without any barriers to experiments, — something that makes one feel the energy flowing out of the heart, — immersion and flight at once, it’s like a mean for transferring energy, love and harmonizing the world of the listener, — improvisation, experiment with instruments of different nations of the world accompanied by fascinating rhythmic patterns and powerful energy.
It is difficult to define the certain style of such music, it envelopes emotional pictures connecting inner worlds of the musicians, the real and the surrealistic ones.
The musicians define their own style as ethno- trance, where «trance» is understood as immersion, a state of mind. Most likely styles: World, Shamanic, Ambient, Jazz, Jungle, Ethno-Trance.
On their performances musicians always improvise, experiment with various ethnic instruments in symbiosis with electronic, often with features of a show: oriental dances, fire and neon show, plastic theaters.
From exciting Irish tunes to narrative ballads
This versatile Celtic music duo is known for its fast Irish and Scottish tunes and narrative ballads. They play on all kinds of traditional instruments from the Irish and Scottish tradition such as the accordion, concertina, bouzouki, harmonica, guitar, whistle and bodhrán.
Duo Pilarz & Gielen
Balfolk on Violin and Accordeon
Balfolk Duo: Luc Pilartz on Violin & Simon Gielen on Accordeon.
These two musicians, with a passion for traditional music, have formed a duo since 2010. Their performance is a mix of their own compositions, that of befriended Belgian, French or English musicians, as well as traditional songs. It is full of rollers, mazurkas, jigs, andros and bourrees. The arrangements of all these dances are designed for both a concert and a ball and the result is that the music is comfortable to listen to. It is impossible for dancers to remain insensitive to the pace of the jigs or the yearning waltzes and mazurkas that will be played! A nice mix of energy, poetry, power, melancholy and especially joy of life.
Instrumental Celtic music
Parsley brings the most beautiful instrumental Celtic music for you to enjoy. Marieke Lesparre (Celtic harp), Hans Elzinga (guitar) and Maaike de Waal (flutes and whistles) play Irish and Scottish tunes (and incidentally a Swedish one) from their new CD ‘The Stray-away Child’ that was released in December 2018.
Parsley combines these tunes with other traditional and more recent Celtic compositions, that all tell about life, love, and losses. Allow yourself some mindful moments of happiness to enjoy Parsley’s dreamy, relaxing slow airs and to indulge in some dancing when more lively dance tunes come by as well.
Balfolk on accordion, flute and bombarde
The paths of Bert (chromatic accordion) and Ies (wooden flutes, bombards) often crossed each other in all sorts of projects, and it was high time for a duo. Voilá, here it is! In a nice dynamic blend, Breton, French and Irish melodies, traditional and own work, merge seamlessly into each other. The music of Laouen (Breton for Happy) takes you to another world and immediately invites you to dance.

The black captain of ‘de Bokkenrijders’
In the 18th century there was a gang of robbers active in the Limburg part of the Netherlands but also in Belgian Limburg.
Their means of transport were goats with red eyes, with which they flew through the air.
This gang also had a mysterious leader, the black captain.
Even the members of the gang did not know exactly who this man was.
This black captain can be seen as a living image on ELfia Arcen 2019, accompanied by his red eyed goat.

Sanna van Bentveld
A powerful opportunity, back in balance!
During a healing, I make contact with the body through the laying on of hands and I feel on all kinds of layers where the energy flows or is blocked. Stress, sadness and pain can cause the energy in the body to no longer flow properly, causing blockages. A healing can help with fatigue, headache, back pain, sleeping problems, burnout and promote your overall well-being. During the treatment it becomes clear what you need and can handle at that time. Through stroking movements I remove what does not belong in the body and the aura. Cleaning and cleaning (special shamanic blowing) creates more space. I work with light energy, which releases blockages in the right vibration and intensity. Often it gives lightness, the self-healing capacity is activated. This leads to inner strength! I notice that people start to shine again after the treatment and experience more peace. Even without detectable physical complaints I can work with you on insights and awareness of body and mind. Important for peo le with serious physical complaints is the realization that a healer is not a healer of serious illnesses, but can guide them in dealing with the symptoms and possibly relieve pain.
For a reading I open myself up and make contact with angels / guides where I get messages about what is going on in your life at that moment. These messages work in the form of words, sentences and images that I put on paper. In this way the total picture of body and mind becomes complete. This gives the meaning of your life path more room. It provides insight into your specific question or problem.
Mindfulness for children:
Mindfulness is being aware. Life is often busy and rushed nowadays. We all need a lot of ourselves. Right now children benefit from a moment of rest and reflect on themselves. The same applies to adults. You learn to focus on something and you become aware of what you feel. You practice listening to this and taking good care of yourself and your environment. Mindfulness can be practiced in different ways, I teach classes at primary school. We start with relaxation exercises, then some awareness exercises and then a short guided meditation with the use of singing bowls, tingsha, koshi and rainsticks. You see that the children are calmer, more present. There is less anger and aggressiveness. It can give children more intense enjoyment and support in small and large storms, in their body, in their environment and in their thoughts. The great thing about mindfulness is that you can apply it yourself at home. y practicing it more often you learn to be open and to accept yourself as you are and to accept life as it is with a friendly attitude.
